SPEECH LANGUAGE SERVICES:
LANGUAGE
* Receptive Language- The comprehension of spoken language; listening and understanding what is communicated.
* Expressive Language- The communication of thoughts and feelings through voice, gestures or written symbols.
ARTICULATION
* The ability to correctly produce phonemes/sounds necessary for producing clear speech.
FLUENCY
* Speech characterized by any irregularity, such as:
> repetition of sound or syllables
> repetition of phrases
> excessive use of "filler words", such as "um" or "ah"
> secondary characteristics, such as, tension, blocks, facial grimaces and/or abnormal breathing
patterns/breath support
VOICE
* Problems with vocal quality, such as, hoarseness, nasality, or irregularities in pitch or intonation.
